A big evening ahead for Australian indie-folk duo, Luluc as they take centre stage tonight at The Red Roof Church as part of this seasons Pop Montreal. Musicians Zoe Randell and Steve Hassett from Melbourne, are very excited for the show tonight, and to be returning to the great city of Montreal, with a sold-out gig . Their first North American tour is the perfect adventure in celebration for their second album and first international album, Passerby.

Passerby really captures all of Luluc’s best qualities with its soft and harmonious sounds, the beautiful tones of the album are such a pleasure to listen to. Co-produced with Aaron Dessner, the album draws on much inspiration from some of Randell’s and Hassett’s favourite artists.

Speaking with Hassett prior to the tour, it was easy to see that this Australian duo are a part of this journey entirely for the love and the music. They are most excited about the tour ahead and the adventure for which this trip will take them on. But also, they look forward to performing their latest album and gathering new inspirations for the future.

For Hassett, Passerby is an album which changes its meaning over time. “It’s our goal to make records you can enjoy time and time again. Mainly, I hope people enjoy it and get something rewarding out of the experience of listening to it.”

They describe the production of Passerby as a great journey. “This album has felt bizarrely charmed from the outset. We moved from Melbourne to New York City intent on making it just the right way. We had the help of the wonderful Aaron Dessner, to complete it,” Hasset said. “To have it out and being received so well is very satisfying and encouraging for us as we are about to head out on our first major North American tour.”

Both Randell and Hassett are most excited about this tour in celebration of Passerby. “We haven’t travelled much through the USA, there are so many storied cities we are looking forward to playing in. Also, playing Passerby live to new crowds will be fun too, the versions take on a life of their own,” Hassett said.

After such encouragement last time Luluc performed in Montreal, the duo are most excited to have this opportunity to return and share their latest and highly successful album with their Canadian fans.
