Avengers: Infinity War will satisfy all Marvel fans

Avengers: Infinity War Avengers: Infinity War

When the first Avengers instalment came out in theatres everywhere, it became the highest-grossing film in the year of 2012. After having a couple of standalone movies to set up this unimaginable team-up, it totally paid off. And now, after ten years of Marvel Studios releasing that many entries, we finally have Avengers: Infinity War. Because Joss Whedon decided not to direct another Marvel film when he finished directing Age of Ultron, the Russo Brothers are now in charge with Infinity War. And don’t worry, this review will be spoiler-free so you have nothing to worry about in order to properly enjoy the movie.

If you’ve seen the post-credits scene in the first Avengers, you probably know by now that big baddie Thanos is looking for the six Infinity stones to power up his Infinity gauntlet. The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy must team up with each other and stop him from total annihilation. That’s pretty much the basic premise of the overall movie.

First of all, let’s talk about Thanos, who completely crushes it. He is an amazing antagonist, and there are times you can even understand where he’s coming from. Phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to have some impressive villains such as Michael Keaton’s Vulture, Cate Blanchett’s Hela and Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger. Josh Brolin does a fantastic job in both doing voice and motion capture work for his character, and he’s able to make the movie a great standalone origin story for Thanos. From beginning to end, there’s a lot of character development with the villain, which allows the audience to understand his motivation for wanting to kill half the population in the universe.

The Russo Brothers have what it takes to make a film with so many characters. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a huge cast, so the fact that the directors are able to give an efficient amount of screen time to each group of characters is pretty impressive. After seeing Captain America: Civil War, also directed by the Russo Brothers, you can tell these two guys are the right people for the job. However, you do feel at times that some characters do not have enough development. It’s a bummer, but the directors really did their best to please every Marvel fan out there.

Surprisingly, this might be the most emotional entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some scenes will leave you crying while watching the film, and at times it can be quite heartbreaking. That’s what makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe so great, because they’re not afraid to go heavy with some emotional themes. The filmmakers stick to the emotional core, and they make sure it stays effective in order to add something to the narrative.

The Russo Brothers should be highly praised for bringing us yet another great entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after directing Winter Soldier and Civil War. It’s not easy to have a movie with so many characters and make it feel well-balanced, but the result is very satisfying. The premise sounds really familiar, but when you see it, it actually feels very different from most typical comic book movies out there. This movie is simply a blast!

Avengers: Infinity War is now playing in theatres.
