A woman dances and all of her movements are smooth and rhythmic as she effortlessly twirls and flies. Each sequence takes its turn and there is complete darkness in between, the audience sits in wonder and anticipation of what they will see next. As a viewer, it’s just like dreaming, you do not know what to expect and whether what you see is real or imaginary.

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to step into one of the most memorable performances I have ever seen. It is very difficult to classify as it combines magic, dancing and absurdities that bring a smile to your face. The first thing I noticed was the strategic use of vibrant colours against the surrounding darkness such as scarlet reds and deep blues.

White orbs fly all around the space and you imagine it to be a jellyfish in the sky or a star with a trailing light. You’re looking for an answer for how this is possible.

The woman twirls again with the accompaniment of Patrick Watson’s atmospheric melodies and you remain in wonder. Just when you think you’ve made sense of the images they are gone.

Colour themes sweep through the different scenes reminding you that they are all connected.
