Dine Downtown Tapas Summer at Taverne F

Just recently, Taverne F started their summer menu and I am most excited to share it with you! What a delicious selection of incredible plates the kitchen team have created for the season. With the warm weather finally coming around, Taverne F is certainly a great spot to venture for an amazing meal, a wonderful selection of wines and parts, and, of course, lovely service.

Taverne F is the little sister of Ferreira Cafe. Located In the heart of Place des Arts, the Taverne is a wonderful restaurant. Beautiful and full of class, yet still the Taverne creates a wonderfully special, yet somewhat casual atmosphere. But regardless of whether you love super fancy, or a casual evening meal, I can certainly say, I always walk away feeling like I have had a five star evening.

Tavern F offers a modern and beautiful spin on Portuguese classics. Keeping in theme with previous seasons and traditional Portuguese dining, Taverne F offers tapas style plates. And to be honest, you will be so grateful for this. There are so many delicious plates on the menu, you will want to try them all! Be sure to take a very hungry friend because it’s worth getting a generous selection of plates. And wine! Be sure to enjoy a glass, if not two, during your meal. They really do have some outstanding wines to choose from. And with dessert, I can only suggest a sweet glass of port. You will thank me for it later!

Let’s talk about the food. It is fresh and light. The new plates certainly speak of summer. The vibrant colours are incredible, as are the fresh herbs and spices shared amongst the dishes. The fresh ingredients and combination of flavours will leave your taste buds dancing and pleading for more.

Taverne F has kept a few of the favourites, such as the Beef Tartare, Fried Calamari and the Burger with Foie Gras. But they have also added a few different, fresher and more summery plates to the list. Does a fresh Salmon Tartare appeal? How about a serve of Roasted Sardines with Marinated Vegetables or a Chilled Pea Soup with Smoked Paprika Cream? I still haven’t won you over!? Perhaps, Albacore Tuna incased in a Spiced Crust served on a Sun-dried Tomato and Olive Tapenade with a White Bean Salad. The plates truly are wonderful, but I don’t know if my writing alone can really do them justice.

Can I pick a favourite!? Probably not. I don’t even know that’s a fair question to ask. So instead, I had a chat with Sous Chef, Jean-Christophe Amadei, to ask him a little more about his favourite plates.

“Personally, my favourite plate to cook is the Roasted Cod, because I love preparing fish. But to eat, my favourite it still the Beef Tartare! It’s a classic.”

Working in a tight-knit team with Head Chef Miguel Pereira and fellow Sous Chef Sandra Brosseaux, these three amazing chefs keep this team alive with their incredible passion, creativity and hard work. But of course, it wouldn’t be complete without all those extra hands of fellow kitchen members also. All in all, this team has created incredible service and amazing food.

“Miguel, our chef, works extremely hard with the team to make this all possible. And for Sandra and I, he is a good friend. But first, he is a great chef! We do all that is possible to help him.”

This hard work and dedication to their work certainly shows in each and every plate that comes to the table. Beautiful in both flavour and presentation, I have not a bad note to say about my experiences at Taverne F. All these amazingly delicious options on a warm summers evening admiring the beauty of Places des Arts in Montreal. Sounds heavenly, doesn’t it?
