This weekend at Palais des Congrès, Montrealers had the privilege of enjoying the 17th edition of Expo Mange Santé et Vivre Vert. Held every spring here in Montreal and Quebec City, this weekend long expo is all about promoting healthy lifestyle and dietary choices. With over 350 exhibitors between the two expos, there is plenty to be discovered!

It’s almost impossible to decide where to begin! I walked into the festival and it was jam-packed with visitors, stall holders, products, samples and ideas! There was certainly a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and interest in the air. As I wandered and explored I had the privilege of discovering new products but also re-discovering older products that, from time to time, slip the mind. I had the privilege of speaking with experts and enthusiasts within the field as they shared information and ideas of how to lead a greener lifestyle. And the greatest part being, not only did I get to learn about all these ideas and products, but I also had the chance to try them too! Sample after sample! It was great to be able to compare products with those we currently use at home. And if these greener alternatives are readily available, then why not make the switch!?

The expo hosted a great mix of stalls representing companies and their products ranging from food, to drinks, to health supplements, aromatherapy and massage, clothing, beauty and skin care, gardening, household and cleaning products. On top of what felt like an endless list of things to see, the expo also hosted cooking demonstrations, workshops and expert conferences through out the three days.

So I guess you are wondering what was my favourite part? To be honest, I don’t think thats even possible to answer. With so much to see, try and learn on such a wide spectrum of products there was certainly no chance of fairly choosing who took out top spot. But I can assure you that there was something there for everyone! And if you are particularly interested in gluten free products available, then this is your haven. With an already large and growing demand for gluten free products, the expo certainly presented many wonderful alternatives for the average glutenous loaf of white bread.

Expo Mange Santé was all about finding ways to make our lifestyles richer by using products, enjoying food and making decisions that benefit both ourselves and the environment. Many stall holders provided great alternatives to the mainstream commercial products which are so readily consumed today. It was wonderful to see and experience such a level of enthusiasm towards making this a greener and healthier world.
