Le Palais des congrès hosted Expo Manger Santé et vivre vert 2016 this weekend. More than 250 exhibitors were present to showcase their product, or promote their services/organizations. Samples were overflowing at the stands, so there was no need to bring any lunch. There were plenty of healthy products to try such as bread made out of kamut flour or vegan meat/cheese.
There is one movement promoted by one organization I would like to highlight from the Expo: Fair Trade. Breaking news about human traffic and slavery in the shrimp industry has been spread worldwide, with these shrimps sold to well-known supermarkets like Walmart. Consumers should be more aware of where their food comes from. To make life simpler, every product with the Fairtrade mark has been produced by decent working conditions for workers and farmers.
Another highlight was the competition of bread, joined with pastry demonstration.
One more highlight is the vegan cake available for a decent price (5$) from the Rochelle Bery store. After hunting for months for affordable and great tasting vegan desert, this one is definitely recommended. A great way to celebrate or spoil a vegan friend, or even yourself!
The Expo Mangez santé et vivre santé was hosted in Palais des Congrès from march 11th to 13th, and will continue in Quebec Centre des congrès march 19th-20th.
