Festival Mode & Design: Fashionably Yours

One time, a friend of mine was stuck in LaGuardia and had to find the gate for his flight to Montreal. “I just saw where all the freakily dressed people were going,” he says. “They led me to the right place.”

Montreal is a fashion city, but not in the way that Paris or New York is, and thank you very much, we’d like to keep it that way. Our Fashion Mode and Design Festival is like none other. Here are some events you might want to catch in addition to the schedule of conferences and workshops available.

Course À Talons (aka the Stiletto Race)

I ran in a stiletto race once and though I didn’t win, I didn’t sprain my ankle either. Montreal’s stiletto race is a fundraiser for Le Chaînon. Anyone can enter so long as the shoes are high heeled. In the sprint to the finish, expect the competition to include a few drag queens. August 19 12:30 p.m., Jeanne-Mance and St. Catherine #courseatalons

Pop Up Boutiques

Want to buy a one-of-a-kind piece or a fashion sample? The pop-up boutiques turn Quatier des Spectacles into an outdoor mall of non-box stores. Some of the designers are Afro Chic, Pay with Love, Schwiing, and Le Cartel. Starts August 19 6:30 p.m.
