Montreal Rampage at Comiccon 2015 : Shop ’til You Drop

If there’s one thing you can do at Comiccon, it’s spend money. All artists offer their amazing art for sale, and the expo floor devotes a large section to dealers. And whether you’re there for comic books, celebrity guests or video games, someone has something you just got to have. You want a new t-shirt to spice up your wardrobe? They’ve got them lined almost up to the ceiling. Jewellery? There must have been a dozen stands selling pendants and rings adorned with items from Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, etc.

From vintage to brand new, you can get collectible figures aplenty, boxes and boxes of comics (some with four digit prices) and graphic novels, posters, a little accent for your home décor or that rare Pokemon card you need to win your next battle. Most dealers accepted credit cards this year, which helps (or not, depending on your perspective) when you find that impulse buy you just got to have (damn the guy who bought the deluxe Han Solo in Carbonite figure before I made up my mind).

Party Expert had their usual huge booth in the center of the expo, selling costumes in case you felt silly after showing up in jeans and t-shirt. Some hyper specialized vendors were in attendance too, from collectible cards to dice (yes, one booth only sold dice), and business seemed booming everywhere.

All artists offered prints of their work (average price seemed to be 20$) which you could get signed by the artist on the spot. The level of quality on display was staggering; so much amazing talent, and a lot of it local too. I wanted to fill my walls with all the wonderful colours on display.

Now if they ever start accepting credit cards at the autograph tables, I’ll be in deep trouble…
