Must-Try Restaurants at MTL à TABLE

With 150 participating restaurants in the fourth edition of MTL à TABLE, it’s not an easy task to choose which restaurant to try.

Here are three restaurants from every category that stand out more in my opinion with a sneak peek of their menus:

Evening service at $41

Accords Wine Bar and Restaurant (New cuisine)

212 Notre Dame West; Old Port

Chef Simon Mathys and sommelier Gabriel Gallant offer a gourmet menu with local products where each meal is perfectly paired with a wine.

First service

Marinated salmon, carrots and pumpkin seeds

Deer, red cabbage and pickled onion

Second service

Beef hanger steak, oat and spinach

Cod, cauliflower and brown butter

Blueberries, coffee and Guanaja chocolate

H4C Place St-Henri (French cuisine)

Chef Dany Bolduc and his team focus on local, seasonal, sustainable and fair-trade products. The restaurant is a converted post office and bank building.

Ricotta gnudi, sautéed mushrooms, broth and parmesan

Marinated mackerel, cucumber, avocado, buttermilk and brioche

Second service

Octopus Tandoori, caramelized yogurt, red onions, basmati rice, cashews and coconut

Braised pork cheek, potatoes, Louis d’or and pickled onions

Helena (Portuguese cuisine)

438 McGill St; Old Port

Chef Helena Loureiro, owner of the restaurant Portus Calle, opened Helena in 2012 in the Old Montreal area.

Potato soup, chorizo, kale and olive oil

Grilled asparagus salad, serrano peppers, roasted almonds and Sao Jorge cheese

Bistro Brasserie Les Soeurs Grises (Quebec cuisine)

Chef Éric Magnan and his team serve kitchen specialties with local produce and artisan beers or house-brewed varieties in a former Grey Nuns’ Convent.

Duo of duck and bison carpaccio

Mini burger of pulled pork, BBQ and maple sauce and root vegetables

Venison braised baluchon, homemade pesto and pickled vegetables

Duo of gravlax, dill cream, fennel salad and pickled vegetables

Chef Mario Navarrete Jr. restaurants are in honour of his mother’s cooking. You can bring your own wine in this urban bistro.

A charming café in the Birks jewelry store that offers brunch, lunch and afternoon tea, by Europea’s chef Jérôme Ferrer.

This modern wine bar restaurant is known for their thin and crust wood-fired pizzas, as well as their authentic Italian appetizers and pastas.
