NDG does it for the sixth time with NDG Arts Week. While the Plateau may have the most artisans per square inch, NDG Represent! The porches and patios of this homey neighbourhood overflow with talent.

Every year, NDG puts together a week long celebration. Each night are events that range from culinary to operatic. Things kick off at Shaika Cafe, where Paul Cargnello and DJ Scott C will make sure that there’s music to move to at the Festival Launch on August 24. Later in the week, on August 27 and 29, return to Shaika for prose and poetry with readings by Joel Yanofsky, Monique Polak, Jo Walton, and other notable NDG writers.

On August 25, you can eat your heart out and the dance it off. A Taste of NDG invites the restaurants of Sherbrooke West to offer special menus. There is also an opportunity to take the NDG Art Walk, which will have performances, interactive art, as well as stuff for sale on August 29.

The Notre Dame de Grace Parc seems to be the hub for most events. There’s plenty of music with a performance of the opera Orphée et Eurydice, complete with a string ensemblea, a show with the Kalumnity collective, an intercultural festival, and the much anticipated Country en Ville Fest where Bobby Dove, Caribou Stew, Rob Lutes and other Americana/folk players will keep everyone dancing.

The NDG Parc is also the space to catch film.  La famille Bélier plays outdoors on the 27, and on August 28, enjoy a showcase of short films made by people connected to NDG.

NDG Arts Week takes place from August 24-30.
