The original Cho’Cola Bakeshop is a cute corner shop located on Monkland street in NDG. The cafe was opened seven years ago by Gloria Kakon after she was inspired by her son’s intolerance to nuts. Since he was young, Kakon was constantly looking for new ways and ideas to make as many nut-free treats for her son and his friends as possible. A passionate baker and cake decorator, she was encouraged to take her passions to the next level.

“I wanted to create an environment where anyone with a nut allergy could feel welcome and safe,” Kakon says. She says that from the beginning of this venture, people have thanked her for creating a cafe where everyone can find something delicious to enjoy! In December 2012, Cho’Cola’s second store on Laurier was opened.

The Monkland store has a huge range of dessert options with a few savoury delights on offer. However the store is about to launch its new salad bar just in time for the spring season! Laurier however, is more focussed on customers sitting and enjoying the atmosphere. With a more extensive savory menu, it’s a lovely place to stop for a work lunch or afternoon tea! And for anyone interested in catering or specialty cake orders, there are all possible options imaginable! I hope you have the chance to pay this specially bakeshop a visit.
