Studies in Freedom combines experimental jazz music, dance, and text together to explore political and spiritual freedom. The show was dedicated to poet and musician Amiri Baraka and musician Roy Campbell, two artists who participated in New York’s annual Vision Festival and who both died this past January. New York improviser and composer Wililam Parker and dancer-choreographer Patricia Nicholson Parker choreographed the dance. The two are a power-couple who take their work around the world. The show featured artists from New York (New York City Vision) and Montreal (Montreal Visionary).Participants included Nicolas Caloia, Joshua Zubot, Isaiah Ceccarelli, Yves Cheruest, Alanna Kraaijeveld, and Sarah Bild. Andres Roget captured the event.
