And the rush of new Fall programming continues! So much to do this week and so much coming up for the week after. Until then, here’s a list of exhibits and events to keep you busy:

Grier Edmundson, Ni un ni l’autre
Battat Contemporary, September 15 to October 22
Battat Contemporary’s Fall programming opens up with Grier Edmundson’s show Ni l’un ni l’autre. Featuring sculptures, paintings, prints and found objects, Edmundson’s works “examine the tenuous capitalist nature of art” and reference Roland Barthes’ essay La critique Ni-Ni. Check out the vernissage Thursday the 15 from 6 to 9 PM. But if you can’t make it that night, it’s on until October 22!

Nicolas Baier, Astérismes
Galerie Division, September 16 from 6 to 9 PM
Galerie Division is also starting its Fall programming this week, with Nicolas Baier’s Astérismes, bringing together a collection of his new works. Interested in the juxtaposition of man-made knowledge systems and nature, Baier’s works bridge the (seeming) divide between science and spirituality. On until November 15.

Articule, September 17 from 3 to 5 PM
In conjunction with Karen Tam’s Terra dos chinês curio shop, on until October 2, Articule presents a conversation between Tam, Alice Ming Wai Jim (art historian, curator, co-editor of the scholarly journal, Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas, and associate professor at Concordia University), and Kimberley Manning (Principal of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute and Associate Professor of Political Science at Concordia University). This event is free and open to the public. Don’t forget to check out Tam’s exhibit before the talk!

Joan Jonas, They Come to Us without a Word (2015), film still

Just a few days left to check out Joan Jonas’ From Away at dhc-art, the first retrospective in Canada devoted to the American multi-media artist. Jonas’ work investigates themes of gender, narrative, experience and space. Her pieces range from sculptures to films to live drawing. She has produced a body of work engaged in art history, oral history, mythology, poetry, literature, and ciname. Seriously not to miss!
Pop Up Shop, event
FOFA Gallery, September 19 to 21
FOFA gallery and esse present: Pop Up Shop! The publication, esse arts + opinions, is published thrice annually. It is a contemporary art magazine focused on spotlighting disciplinary and interdisciplinary practices in visual arts, performance, video, current music and dance, and experimental theatre. You’ll get the chance to pick up everything from collector’s editions, vintage issues, to their latest issue, esse 88 | Landscape, which will be available at a special student discount. Open from noon to 6 PM every day.
We, Other, vernissage
Ancienne École Des Beaux-Art De Montréal, September 21 from 6 to 8 PM
Art Matters Festical is remounting one of its exhibits in collaboration with Art POP. We, Other features works by Katherine Lewis, Brent Morley Smith, Alexandre Pépin, Cindy Phenix, Laurence Philomene, Monica Rekas, and Kara Sterne. Curated by Miles Petrella and on until September 25.
