Now that our friends are setting off to exciting far-away places, leaving many of us behind, here is my list of fun things to do right here:

The VICE Annual Photo Show: The New Photojournalism
July 23-31 at the Phi Centre

In collaboration with Magnum Photos, and featuring work by photographers like Aaron Vincent Elkaim, Bruce Gilden, VICE is celebrating its annual Photo Issue at Montreal’s Phi Centre. Make sure to catch it before Saturday!

Landscapes of the Hyperreal: Ábalos & Herreros Selected by SO – IL
July 23-September 13 at the CCA

This is the final exhibit of a three-part series, Out of the Box: Ábalos & Herreros. The series, an exploration of the Spanish architecture firm, Ábalos & Herreros, ends with the investigation of the role of collage in the firm’s works, curated by Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu (SO – IL). Hey, if you can’t make it across the ocean to Spain, just hop on the metro to the CCA.

Paper Trails: An Incomplete History of Concordia Student Publications
3rd Floor of the EV Building, SGW Campus until July 31

This is your last chance to check out the display of student publications from Concordia. It is also part of a larger archiving project, which will make these art publications much more accessible for the community.

Du cirque au Musée/The Circus Comes to the Museum
July 29 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Not only is the Rodin exhibit half price this Wednesday (a must-see!), but you also get free admission to circus artist Jimmy Gonzalez’s show. His choreography was inspired by Rodin’s works. You can catch the performances at 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m.

WOMAN X WOMEN
July 29-August 8, vernissage July 30 at Station 16

Sugar 4 Brain’s much anticipated WOMAN X WOMEN is finally here this Wednesday! A show “highlighting the artistic re-appropriation of the female body, sexuality and histories,” this is one not to miss, featuring artists like Guerilla Girls, Hannah Faith Yata and Sandra Chevier. Don’t forget to get your tickets for the after-party at The Belmont.

Don’t sweat it, the world is ours to travel for a long time. But these events are only temporary! So we win.
