Festival Quartiers Danses is back again this year and revealed its exciting programming at the beginning of this week. The festival will take place from September 6 to 17 in multiple venues across Montreal.

At the unveiling, the audience was given a taste of the festival’s program through small excerpts and a promotional video. The excerpt from Kyra Jean Green’s piece You Think I Think You See it This was particularly intriguing, and the movements and costumes in LA TRESSE’s Beauté Brute: Volume II were striking. Other events to look forward to include two performances by the company Focus Cia de Dança from Brazil, a fundraiser piece for the Douglas Hospital, Morgan Le Tiec’s Barouf, and other pieces by local emerging artists.

Not only are dance pieces performed at Quartiers Danses, but exhibitions and video projections are also part of this festival. The London photographer Jackie Hopfiner’s collection of photos titled Retrospective will be exhibited at Bain Mathieu and presents a view of the last four years of the festival. Short films about dance will be part of the Quartiers Danses and will be projected at the Beaubien cinema on September 12. Finally, a performance to look forward to is the event titled Vitrine sur la jeune relève, which showcases Montreal’s next generation of choreographers.
