As we continue on our journey exploring smaller bookstores around Montreal, we noticed that there were a considerable number of comic book stores out there. Whether you want to complete the story cycle you started or try and find a new comic series to get lost in, one of these stores is sure to be the one for you.

Astro Books
1844 St. Catherine Ouest (downtown Montreal)
From collecting cards to checking out their collection of new and used books, Astro Books is the largest comic books dealer in Quebec. Coming from the East End or the West Island, or just lazy? No problem. Astro also has their collection on Abebooks for you to peruse. If you find a title you like, you can either order it online or go to the bookstore to check it out. Approximately a block away from Argo Bookstore, so be sure to check them out as well. Store hours are Monday to Wednesday from noon to 7 pm, Thursday and Friday from noon to 9 pm, Saturday from noon to 8 pm, and Sunday from noon to 6 pm.

Comic Hunter

The only store where you can rent or even hunt down that elusive issue you’ve been dying to read, Comic Hunter is another fine place to check out. Are you a comics collector? Comic Hunter also has supplies to protect your precious issues. Kids 12 and under get to pick a free comic from the Dollar Bin! Store hours are Monday to Tuesday from 11 am to 6 pm, Wednesday from 11 am to 7pm, Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 9 pm, and on weekends from 10 am to 5pm.

Cosmix
931 Decarie (St. Laurent)
From figurines to graphic novels, Cosmix carries your favourite standard DC and Marvel comics, as well as some indie publishers as well. This comic book store also takes your reserve list starting from 20$. They have a vibrant online community that’s free to join as well. Store hours are Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 am to 6 pm, Wednesday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 am to 8 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Komico
4960 Decarie (Côte-des-Neiges/NDG)
You can’t keep a good store down! Komico, one of the oldest comics stores in Montreal, tragically burnt down last year, but they have since relocated and are open for business. You can find figurine and other collectibles, as well as new and rare comics for your collection. Komico’s website is currently down, but its Facebook page is thriving and open for lively discussion. Store hours are Monday and Tuesday from 11 am to 6 pm, Wednesday through Friday from 11 am to 8 pm, and Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm.
