Théâtre de Verdure Brings Art to the Park

Parc LaFontaine Parc LaFontaine

Every summer, Montreal parks explode with cultural opportunities. These include outdoor screenings, concerts, theatre, and even an opportunity to make things arts n crafts style.

As one of Montreal’s biggest parks, Parc La Fontaine draws crowds to its outdoor theatre shell for a super line up of activities that are sure to delight everyone. Activities ratchet up from June 14 to August 3, so here are a few picks of what might interest you. These are all free.

If you want to dance, PPS Danse (named for choreographer, dancer, and stage director Pierre Paul Saovie), will show you how to do it from June 21-23 from 17-19h. Registration starts at 16:30, so show up and get your boogie on. If you’d rather watch dance than do it, catch Tony Chong Danse’s performance of Le Petit Chaperon Rouge. Just 20 minutes long, this is part of a longer three part piece called the Delusions of Enchantment. The piece takes the Brothers Grimm story and looks at it through a Freudian lens. Are you Little Red, the Big Bad Wolf, Grandmother, or just want to have sex with a parent?

Music types range from the dashing duo of Lillabox (Guitar/cello duo) on July 20 at 19 h to piano with creative pianist Matt Herskowitz and jazz pianist John Roney on Aug 3 at 20:30 h.

For film, check out La démolition familiale on July 26 at 21 h or Le mystère Macpherson on July 21 at 21 h.

See you in the park!
