TO DO Tonight: The SAAL Process Vernissage at the CCA

The SAAL, the Servico Ambulatorio de Apoio Local, was an architectural and political experiment to deal with housing shortages and poor living conditions in Portugal. It was created during the Portuguese revolution of 1974. SAAL produced 170 projects in a period of 26 months, though not all were fully built.

Ten of the most influential SAAL projects are explored at the CCA with blueprints, surveys, models, and historical materials on display to bring them to life.

The CCA vernissages are attended by well-dressed people who care about art and architecture. The mood is generally jovial and the exhibits are intellectual and one always leaves feeling better for having gone.

The SAAL Process vernissage takes place May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the CCA (1920 Rue Baile). Free.
