Halloween is right around the corner, and all sorts of monsters are popping up left and right as we go about our business. On Saturday though, a huge horde of zombies descended on downtown Montreal for the annual Zombie Walk. Our own edition of this worldwide phenomenon was founded in 2011, and has grown to include a few thousand participants that rival in imagination to bring to life ghouls, monsters and, of course, zombies.
As part of the weekend long “La Trouble-Fête”, the Zombie Walk started behind Place-Des-Arts going west on De Maisonneuve up to McGill before hooking back on Ste-Catherine. From simple makeups to elaborate concepts, all participants brought inspiration and creativity to their makeup and costumes. And for those feeling less inspired, a huge makeup section was setup at Complexe Desjardins all afternoon long where one could be transformed into an undead creature for a 15$ fee.
It was a lot of fun to watch and admire the amazing cosplay parading, led by a zombified fanfare playing songs like “Ghostbusters” and “Thriller”. Participants of all ages really went all out to impress, and the numerous onlookers seemed to appreciate too. Kudos to all participants!
