Get ready to experience intense musical moments! The 10th season of OPCM offers a musical journey through the centuries, featuring composers as diverse as Beethoven, Mozart, Holst, Jenkins, and Mahler.
Last night was unforgettable: OPCM gathered music lovers for an exceptional musical journey. Francis Choinière and the Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes were outstanding at La Maison Symphonique in Place des Arts, Montreal!
Beethoven’s powerful Fifth Symphony, with its famous four-note motif, set the tone, followed by Mozart’s poignant Requiem, a celebration of life and death. The orchestra’s masterful interpretation transported the audience into an enchanting sound universe.
This concert will remain etched in my memory. The overwhelming energy of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony literally shook me, while Mozart’s Requiem deeply moved me. The beauty of the music, combined with the quality of the performance, created a unique and unforgettable experience. Over 100 choristers and 52 musicians accompanied conductor Francis Choinière. He was surrounded by the exceptional voices of soprano Myriam Leblanc, mezzo-soprano Allyson McHardy, tenor Andrew Haji, and baritone Geoffroy Salvas.
This concert was a true celebration of two of the greatest composers of all time. The juxtaposition of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, an emblematic work of Romanticism, and Mozart’s Requiem, a masterpiece of the Classical period, offered a fascinating perspective on the evolution of music.
