G. Hamilton Braithwaite (Can a name that cool be real?) creator of the Five4fifteen weekly comedy show held at Bar Biftek and Hart Gordshikov, a Toronto native and all around artist present Dine and Laugh. A Salhyde Comedy creation which combines two of the most enjoyable activities you can do in this life, stand-up comedy and eating. This event which is being held at a new bar named Barbe Bleue will be serving tasty Mexican food. The affordable tapas style serving resto-bar which does not in fact contain any pirates as its name might suggest, can be located at the corner for Bernard and Parc street in the hip mile-end district.
Catch the first of this new series of unique events with a different headliner each show. This event which is free admission will be showcasing six comedians with Hart as host. Headlining will be Vimont native Massimo who Braithwaite describes as a “controlled frantic ball of energy.” Others on the docket are rapper and comedian Chuggo, Mariam Khan, Melina Maria Trimarchi, Australian born but Montreal based Sarah Quinn and Braithwaite himself. What’s great about this series and most of the events that Braitwaite and Hart present is that they make sure not to include only an all male line-up.
Host Hart is a new collaborator for Braithwaite in the film setting as the two have also worked together in the documentary Raw Material which explores the importance of alternative comedy spaces within the English comedy scene in Montreal. With these creative minds who want to challenge the norms in comedy it can be assured that this event will be a good one.
With a mild week for winter on its way there’s no excuse not to make it out to this event for some drinks, good food and laughs.
Barbe Bleue (272 Bernard Street West) Dine and Laugh takes place Thursday, January 19th at 8:00 p.m
