My Montreal Bucketlist: La Panthère Verte
La Panthère Verte, or the Green Panther, is pretty much a Plateau and Mile End institute. Boasting many locations in the area and more on the way, this organic vegan cafe is hot on the list for places to eat in Montreal. Fresh and healthy eats and drinks, the Green Panther is a perfect stop for lunch, dinner or even a snack in between.
Offering a selection of soups, salads and absolutely delicious falafel (in or out of pita!) there are lots of options to choose from. On top of the savoury options, desserts and cookies are in abundance. As are the various smoothie and juice combinations!
And what I love most about this restaurant chain, is their passion and priority for quality produce. Working out of a central production kitchen in the Mile End, food is delivered fresh daily for the staff to serve in each of the three locations. The Mile End, the Plateau and downtown.
So for lunch on this rainy fall day, I decided on the traditional falafel pita. Half serve, which is a nice option because servings are generous. On the side, a mix of daily salads as part of the combo meal and a delicious Santa Cruz Organic Soda. The ideal lunch combo ($12). The food is delicious. It’s simple, but solid in quality and consistency. Eating the falafel was just like biting into a deliciously healthy bundle of goodness. And the pita? Fresh and soft. The salads came with a great variety of vegetables and flavours but my favourite was the sweet potato. Roasted (skin on) with herbs and spices, the potato was the ideal balance of sweet and spice.
My lunch was delicious and I most certainly walked away satisfied! (With a sesame and almond flour cookie in hand for later!)
Le Panthère Verte has stores located in Mile End, the Plateau and downtown and are open various times depending on the location. More information can be found on their website, here.
