Queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race invade Montreal
Are you excited for the Season Seven premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race on March 2nd? Well if you are then you should go see the Battle of the Seasons Tour. The Montreal tour features drag queens from previous seasons: Alaska 5000, BenDeLaCreme, Darienne Lake, Ivy Winters, Jiggly Caliente, Jinkx Monsoon and Pandora Boxx. Michelle Visage, a judge of RuPaul’s Drag Race, will be hosting. Cary NoKey will be a special guest.
David Charpentier, founder and manager of Producer Entertainment Group (PEG), says the tours simply started due to fans’ demands. They wanted to see the girls do more live performances in bigger venues. This is the third year of tour for RuPaul’s Drag Race in the United States and Canada. They are also going to Europe for the first time and are very excited about it. With close to 50 cities, this tour is the largest one.
This year is a big production different from previous ones. “It’s basically like a live concert of RuPaul’s Drag Race, it’s a variety show of many different things like singing and things that they’re doing on the TV show live on stage,” says David.
Viewers will see new things they have not seen before. “Some of the girls are performing songs that aren’t released yet so the first opportunity for the fans to see it is on the tour,” adds David. The queens will be doing a live version of the Snatch Game, as well as some group numbers.
The tour is very successful and popular, which means that tickets tend to sell out quickly. People who have seen the show have enjoyed their experience and David believes this is the reason for the tour’s growing popularity.
This will be the first time the tour is stopping in Montreal. In the past, it has visited other Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton. “Alaska, who is one of the performers on this tour date, is French Canadian so she’s very excited to be coming to Montreal,” says David. The whole team is excited to perform in the city this Saturday.
