The Artistorian lists her picks from the Montreal art scene for the week of August 2nd.
August is upon us. As the back to school frenzy begins, and the collective Osheaga post-concert depression sets in, check out some of these events and get all that off your mind:

Montreal-based street painter, Waxhead, has a solo exhibit this month. Monastiraki invites us to spend some time with the artist’s “lovable critters.” Don’t miss this!

An exhibit curated by Jason Vallières & Carolina Echeverria, Teiotiokwenhahton: Beadwork – Visions of Peace features works of raised beadwork from the Americas and Europe. There will also be storytelling and conversation circles, allowing viewers to interact with the themes and issues discussed in the exhibit. Stay tuned for an interview with Carolina Echeverria, Native-Immigrant Artistic Director, coming this week.
Seripop: Performance Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau
August 6, 7 PM at Fonderie Darling
A performance by Lum and Desranleau of Seripop: using their bodies, objects and the spaces in between, these artists will transform the gallery right before your eyes. Seripop is known for their inventive choreography and interesting use of objects. If you’ve never seen a Seripop performance, you have a date this Thursday.
Young Hearts Run Free

This group show is part of a collaboration with the Pervers/Cité festival. The performances will begin at 7 p.m. sharp and they are bound to be thought-provoking.
