Montreal’s local jazz scene gets a proud moment with L’Off Jazz. We sent M. Talakoub to check out Jean Derome et Les Dangereux Zhoms at Lion d’Or on October 7. Jean Derome normally plays in a quartet, but this time nine additional musicians. They played three originals: Sudoku pour pygmies, Cinq etudes pour Figures, and Traquenards.
