Yesterday, I had the pleasure to attend this year’s Fashion POP winner, Christina Julien’s, first Pop-Up shop where she presented her new spring capsule collection.

Through her designs, Christina shows that she understands women’s needs in clothing; they are classy, cute, as well as sexy. So I sat down with her and had a little chat where we discussed her clothes and inspiration.

Christina graduated from LaSalle College last year where she earned her degree in Fashion Design. She dedicates most of her time working on her clothing line. The clothes exhibited, which also included the pieces that won her first place at Pop Montréal’s annual fashion competition, revealed a retro and vintage look which seem the be influenced by the 1960s.  Minimalism is what inspires her, Christina says. The pieces she picked were all black and white which helped to achieve simplicity.

For designer Christina Julien, black and white fits everybody and are always a great match. Not only is she attracted by her surroundings and environment but also by movies.  She recently watched Jean-Luc Godard’s 1966 movie, Made in the U.S.A., in which the fashion is absolutely exquisite. She liked how  the movie “could have been shot yesterday” due to the clothes and fashion sense. She wrote a post (click HERE) about it on her personal website. You can keep up with what she is up to through her website where she shares personal photographs, insights on fashion and upcoming events.

One of her favourite shopping spot in Montréal is Les Étoffes (5253 Boulevard Saint-Laurent) which sells high quality vintage clothing. She is currently working on the launching of her new website which will include an online shop store. Her clothing prices are between $65 to $120.

By creating and designing everything herself, Christina Julien proves that she has a special place in the fashion industry and I seriously wish her all the best in her upcoming projects.

Christina Julien’s Pop-Up show is at l’Espace POP (5587 Parc) the weekend of March 21-23. March 23 10- 6 p.m.
