This is a review of Mike Carrozza Knows Everybody, a variety show of an hour or so that happened last Friday. For real, Mike Carrozza’s show was a true variety show. And I mean variety! From stand-up and comedy sketch to live music and a burlesque show in a tiny swimming pool.
For those of you who don’t know, Mike writes some pretty awesome stuff for Montreal Rampage and last Friday we visited the very first episode of his variety show, theme revenge at Theatre Ste-Catherine.
There were like a million things that were super awesome about the show, but not to make you read a super long review (and to show you why you must definitely check out the next episode, if you weren’t there for the first one) I’ll name them all in order:
1. The show had plenty of great stand-up comedy by Mike, Jakub Stachurski and Morgan O’Shea (who was a last minute guest on the show.)
2. Awesome sketch comedy by a duo Ladies and Gentlemen, Ladies and gentlemen!
3. A Live Canadian band. Yep, an amazing live band called Lakes of Canada! Honestly (no offense comedians) I think I instantly fell in love with the witty character of this duo, in addition to a ton of talent and an awesome sense of humour! Whoever doesn’t know them should definitely check them out. Here’s a video so that you know what you’re missing…
4. Finally, there was a burlesque show by the charming Miss April May June! As I mentioned, there was everything you can possibly imagine in one show at a super cozy Theatre Ste-Catherine. I guess when Mike says he is a professional, he means he is a professional because he has his own show now! He also said that Jennifer Lawrence will be the lucky girl he’ll eventually settle down with :)
I think this pretty much sums up the night. All in all, Mike’s very own show was a great mixture of a variety of performances that perfectly complemented each other. I’m looking forward to the episode two, theme unknown.
PS: Morgan got a haircut everyone!
