Comedy Review: The Last Summer Brunch Club
So we can officially say that The Brunch Club is gone for the summer. They will be back with more exciting guests and local comedians but for the moment we’re gonna have to wait.
Last Brunch Club show of the season took place at La Vitrola on St-Laurent street, a cool and slightly hidden place. For this special night, the Brunch Club guys invited Mr. Mike Lawrence! You may know him from shows like @midnight, Conan, Late Night with Seth Meyers and John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show. Or maybe you know him for his Nerd of Mouth podcast and a bunch of appearances on JFL. If you don’t though, I suggest you check out his website HERE to get an idea of how awesome some of the Brunch Club invitees can be!
If I were to describe Mike’s style in a few words, I would say Mike’s stand up performance is sarcastic, nerdy and pretty edgy at times (most of the times) which makes it quite awesome. Mike cracks the audience up by saying the most unexpected jokes. His appearance and his uncensored material about his mother’s “rack” for example, don’t match and this is exactly what makes him hilarious. He owned the stage by first entering with a peaceful intro and a bit about himself; threw in a few sarcastic jokes with a poker face, and once the audience got the drift he went full in.
The show was super funny, and I strongly recommend you check out what you can from the Brunch Club’s previous shows, as well as keep up with upcoming shows in September. Feel free to keep in touch with us and share any of Mike’s jokes that you may remember from the show, in the comment section below! No need to censor, just say it as it is and tell us how much fun you had!
The Brunch Club is coming back in September. You can get more info on tickets and the upcoming shows HERE.
