Le Phoque OFF to the Metaverse
If you’ve been trying to figure out what all that hoopla about the Metaverse is about, why not attend one of the world’s first Metaverse music festivals with Quebec’s Le Phoque OFF. Granted, we usually cover Montreal stuff here, but this is accessible to everyone, everywhere and Quebec City is a mere few hours away IRL. Also a number of artists have ties to Montral. Save yourself the gas and for $10 journey to NOWHERE for your Metaverse experience.
Montreal-based Malika Tirolien will be performing her neo-soul, smooth as silk vocals. She has kept herself busy in recent years, chiefly as lead singer of super group BOKANTÉ (nominated for Best World album at the Grammys in 2020), but also doing solo work as well that combines soul, r&b, funk, and jazz.
Another act with Montreal ties is Solipsisme. This new band launches its EP and features François Lemieux, William Duguay-Drouin, Taylor William Fitzpatrick Johnson, Samuel Gadreau, and Maxime Doyer.
Other acts to catch include Charlotte Brousseau, Worry, Kizaba, Hippie Hourrah, Efy Hecks, Les Lunatiques, Sensei H, and l i l a, and lots more. Shows are recorded live in Quebec City venues and hosted as live events starting at 8 p.m. each night from Feb 21 to Feb 25.
So, if you’d like to see what it’s like to be in a virtual world, listening to a virtual concert, you’ve got plenty of chances now. NOWHERE, who designed the spaces, are offering these 3D alternative worlds and note that there are some secret passages if you can figure out where they are.
Le Phoque OFF takes place Feb 21 to 25 in the NOWHERE space of the Metaverse. For details, head HERE. Tickets are $10 per day or $28 for the festival.
