Montreal Art This Month : April Showers Shows
The Montreal art scene is always bustling, no matter the season. As spring is slowly settling in, crawl out of your heavy knits and into the sun (hopefully) to check out some of these exciting events happening during the month of April.
“Worn, a show of wearable art” vernissage at the VAV Gallery
April 7 at 6 p.m.
Featuring the works of eleven solo artists and one collaborative project from the Concordia community, Worn focuses on artworks that go beyond visual interaction. It runs from April 7 to 17, and I’m sure you can expect some free wine on opening night.
F WORD Volume III launch at L’Insouciant
April 11 at 8:30 p.m.
A multi-media event celebrating the launch of this McGill feminist publication F WORD, it will feature artwork, feminist films, live music and performances. You will also get a free copy of the publication.
Chih-Chien Wang Artist talk at the Darling Foundry
April 16 at 6 p.m.
Artist Chih-Chien Wang will discuss her current exhibit at the Darling Foundry, “The Act of Forgetting,” curated by Caroline Andrieux. This event is free!
EMOJIGIRL, a live performance by Doubl/e/space at Morrice Hall Theatre
April 22 at 8 p.m.
Doubl/e/space, founded by Michèle-Anne Robinson, is a Montreal performance collective. Join Emojigirl (Georgia Gleason) on her search for connection while trapped in the lonely world of social media. She’s also described as sassy, so you know it has to be great. Tickets are available here.
Stéphanie Loveless Artist talk at the Darling Foundry
April 30 at 6 p.m.
Artist Stéphanie Loveless will discuss her current exhibit at the Darling Foundry, “For Romantic Fantasy,” curated by Jake Moore. This event is free!
