Day 6/Untitled
Remember that guy who did Black Swan, Pi, and the Wrestler? Of course. Darren Aronofsky is back in town shooting his newest film, Day 6. I don’t know too much about Day 6, but if we’re lucky, this is the “untitled Darren Aronofsky project” about a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests show up at their home. Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Javier Bardem, and Ed Harris are in the film. Someone see any of these folks around? This one shoots until August 16.
The Glass Castle
Director Destin Cretton is supposedly filming The Glass Castle, based on the autobiographical smash about a girl who is raised atypically by her itinerant family. If so, some actors to keep your eye out for: Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, Naomi Watts, and Max Greenfield. This one is around until August 4.
The Death and Life of John F. Donovan
Xavier Dolan (woo woo woo woo!) is starting to put together the pieces of his new feature, The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, about an actor whose correspondence with an 11-year old tears apart his career. We all know that Dolan kicked butt at Cannes, but he’s repeatedly made great stuff. This one should be no different. Natalie Portman, Kit Harington, Thandie Newton, Kathy Bates, Susan Sarandon, Nicholas Hoult, and Jessica Chastain are in the film, but its only in preproduction now and begins shooting in mid July until September 3.
Eye on Juliet
Kim Nguyen’s eye on Juliet is about a drone operator who protects a young bride in the Middle East. This English-Arabic film features Joe Cole and Lina El Arabi and is currently in pre-production until the end of June and then filming until mid July.
