While we’ve still got decent weather, here are a few TV shows and films that are shooting in Montreal.
Films
AKKABA
The new XMEN film has been shooting in the city for some time now and will continue to do so until September 4.
Boost
Before this, I didn’t know that there was a Canadian Independent Production Incentive Program (CIPIP) that allows low-budget Canadian film and TV projects to take on pros… but there we are. Boost is a CIPIP feature shooting in Montreal until October 3, directed by Darren Curtis. Darren Curtis is a name that should ring a bell — he directed, wrote, and produced Who is KK Downey as well as the web series YidLife Crisis. He also acted in the Trotsky
TV Series/TV Movies
19-2 (season 3)
If you make it to season three, you can’t be that bad. This police drama features beat partners Ben Chartier (Jared Keeso) and Nick Barron (Adrian Holmes) as they square off against organized crime and politics in Montreal. You may catch Juliette Gosselin, Krista Bridges, or Joe Pingue as well. Shooting continues until December 9, 2015 by Spheremedia.
Quantico
Quantico is Mark Gordon and Joshua Safran’s latest about FBI trainees in this Grey’s Anatomy meets Homeland show. Priyanka Chopra and Aunjanue Elis star. Shooting of the first season will continue until December 17 by ABC Studios.
New Address
New Address is a CBC remake of Nouvelle Adresse, a hit Quebec series about a single mother who learns she is dying of cancer and must call on her family to help raise her three kids. It will air in the fall and is shooting until Sept 30.
Natural Born Outlaws
Leave it to the Discovery channel to create Natural Born Outlaws, a series about, well, gangsters. It’s a docu-drama, so it will present the facts of those who couldn’t avoid a life a crime, while recreating their greatest moments. Expect to see Capone, Dillinger, and Bonnie and Clyde. Shooting continues into September.
The Patriot
Director Steve Conrad wrote a number of films: Wrestling Ernest Hemingway, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and The Pursuit of Happyness. Now he sits in the director’s chair for filming The Patriot, a made for TV movie. Kurtwood Smith, Kathleen Munroe, and Meghan Heffern star in this story about a US State Department dad who tries to keep peace between his two sons.
Real Detective
David Hackl worked on the Saw II-IV, and directed Saw V. The man knows grisly. He now takes on the docu-drama Real Detective. Not much else I can say on this one except it is shooting until Dec 2015.
