Tonight on St-Denis Street was the opening of the fifth Montreal Complètement Cirque, a circus festival in Montreal. Over the years the festival has gained in popularity and is now spreading all over Montreal with shows near the Olympic Stadium, at la Tohu, in Verdun, at Pointe-aux-Trembles and in St. Leonard. From what I saw tonight it should be vertiginous.
My picks: The Cirque Alfonse is the one to watch. I saw them few years ago and can still remember. They were juggling with axes almost killing each other for the show. Frightening but so cool. This year they are back with a show of bearded men in very little costumse…
The other group I really like mainly for the mood and theatrical presentation is Les Sept Doigts de la Main. I have seen every show they have performed and have never been disappointed. Always great and with aerial.
Finally not to be miss are the every day is the free short show at 6:30 p.m. It is usually very colorful. I will see you there! It’s a Rendez-vous that takes place at the corner of Emery and St. Denis
Catch the indoor and outdoor program of Montreal Complètement Cirque from July 2 to 13. The free La Rue Complètement Cirque march on St. Denis takes place nightly at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. except for July 7. Magali Crevier’s beautiful photography can be found HERE and HERE.
