Some get their music fixes through big festivals, others by attending single shows. POP Montreal brings the best of both, with many independent artists coming to city to perform in showcases in venues of all sizes.
Plenty of indie and local bands are set to play. For example, right from are own south shore, the Dead Obies will be here. Saxsyndrum, The Besnard Lakes, Po Lazarus, and Un Blonde are just a few other locals.
One thing that’s great is the way that those who have performed at the festival come back as POP Montreal royalty. This year, keep an eye out for Jessy Lanza, The Dears, and Think About Life.
The headliners of POP Montreal always a surprising list. This year, Austra, samba performer Elza Soares, and Wu-Tang clan master RZA. Also exciting is a show with Deee-Lite’s Lady Miss Kier and electro-pop underground star John Maus. For those who prefer rock, Royal Trux are coming too.
Although there are around 200 more acts that will be announced, some to get excited about are Little Scream, Royal Canoe, Sunfields, and The Acorn.
POP Montreal has also announced some of its artists for Art POP — Rebecca Storm, Jana Sterbak, Nadine Faraj, and Tricia Middleton.
Keep an eye on the POP Montreal website HERE for updates. The festival takes place September 13 to 17.
