To do TONIGHT: George Ezra opens for Hozier at Metropolis
This is not a list of winners, you can find that anywhere. This is a review, performer by performer, of all of the performances of the Feb 26th Brit Awards.
Taylor Swift
I loved Taylor’s hair and her shorts-suit, and her shoes were phenomenal. Sadly, she seemed a bit nervous which took away from her performance in the beginning. Luckily, her “dance” routine included a very Karlie Kloss-esque strut and she finished strong. Taylor will be in Montreal this summer.
7.5/10
Sam Smith
While I wasn’t loving his new “beard”, I did love everything else about his performance. Sam Smith is a beautiful singer, and he stayed true to that in his performance. He sang like an angel with a beautiful white-instrument clad orchestra.
8/10
Royal Blood
These guys sounded amazing, almost like they could be the next Arctic Monkeys or something. Their playing was great, and they had some okay looking lasers. They definitely deserved their stage time.
7/10
Ed Sheeran
If I have ever doubted my love for Ed Sheeran, it was cleared up in this performance. He used two mics and did real time layovers with vocals, and the lights made him shine. Sheeran is fantastic and well worth any penny spent on him. Ed Sheeran will be in Montreal this summer.
9.5/10
Kanye West
Blow torches. Rap choir. Sick new track. This is better than the Kanye show I went to last February in Montreal. I love Kanye, and I loved this over the top performance.
9/10
Take That
Reminded me a lot of Coldplay, but that is probably just because I’d never heard of this group until the chorus kicked in. They had really great musicality with fantastic harmonies and a really cool fake-sun.
7/10
George Ezra
He was adorable and rocking all at the same time. His voice is so deep and he transformed his track “Budapest” to have a bit more snazzy guitar which I like. After a few seconds of watching all I could think was “can I have your number?” George Ezra will be in town with Hozier tonight.
7.5/10
Paloma Faith
Is she the next great British female singer? Maybe. She reminded me of somewhere between Amy Winehouse and Adele and I loved her. Having heard her song a few times, I really loved her rain/ballet in the back ground performance.
8/10
Madonna
Everything about Madonna’s return to the Brit awards was epic. Her dancing was more than on-point, and her choreography was perfect. The dance included a fall which I could barely tell was part of the dance. Her singing was okay, and she brought in additional singers to pick up the slack as she danced her heart out. I loved the remix of the song as well.
