Rhapsody in Blue at the PDA

Last night, the Maison Symphonique resonated with an exceptional recital by the Quebec virtuoso Jean-Philippe Sylvestre. The pianist, fresh from a triumphant international tour, transported us into a sound universe where New York jazz met the heightened romanticism of the 19th century.

A Bold Program

With “Rhapsody in Blue,” Sylvestre presented a program as ambitious as it was original. By blending works by Gershwin, Bernstein, Liszt, Chopin, and Scriabin, he created a thread between the two eras, revealing unexpected influences. The audience was captivated by this daring approach, which highlighted the artist’s extensive talent. The pianist enchanted the audience with his brilliant performance!
