SCENE: A Room Full of Cinephiles at CineBazar

Calling all Montrealers with an interest (or obsession) in film; mark February 1st on your calendar because that’s the date of the seventh annual CineBazar. This one-day event is sponsored by Mediafilm, and features a vast and eclectic array of all things related to the art of cinema.

Approximately sixty exhibitors are expected to attend this unique event in which thousands of film related items will be on display. Merchandise available for purchase includes current DVDs, vintage 8mm and 16mm projectors, film stills, posters, and magazines. CineBazar will also feature more hard to find articles such as memorabilia, film reels, puzzles, games, and figurines.

Among those with tables at the event will be distributors and production companies as well as exhibitors showcasing any and everything related to cinema. Of those confirmed organizations scheduled to attend this year’s CineBazar are 24 Images, Cinematheque Quebecoise, Cineclub/The Film Society, Cinema du Parc, Cinema Excentris, Cinema Politica, FunFilm Distribution, K-Films Amerique, Les Rendez-Vous du Cinema Quebecoise, Eclipses Magazine, and Smash.

Proceeds for CineBazar will go to CinÉcole, a film education program aimed at high school students and run by Mediafilm. Mediafilm is North America’s leading supplier of French film information.
