This weekend brings Île Soniq to Parc Jean Drapeau. The annual festival focuses on EDM. Music lovers will have an amazing time listening to nostalgic acts – like Seannnna Paul as well as great current electronic artists.  Some have been around for 20+ years, some new, some from far away and some local.

Who not to miss at the annual EDM festival this weekend.

If you feel intimidated by intense BPM there are plenty of artists such as Ben Böhmer, Dixon, and John Digweed that take you on a very dreamy atmospheric ride and when combined with being outside in a big open space, beautiful moments will most certainly be created.

If you’re into dubstep, Black Tiger Sex Machine who hails from Montreal will be playing, as well as Virtual Riot and Wooli. Koven will be bringing their drum and bass beats.

But don’t be fooled! Île Soniq is not only electronic and techno. Local rap artists SLM and Kay Bandz will be in attendance as well as French Montana and Gunna. What I find to be perfectly Montréalais is how Kay Bandz weaves through English and French in his music the way that Montrealers speak to each other.

If you want to know who to absolutely make sure to see if you love techno-house catch SIDEPIECE, DVBBS (Canadian yay!), FISHER, Tchami, and of course Swedish House Mafia. Since you are reading this and a user of the internet it is highly likely that you have already heard FISHER’s song “Losing it” at some point. These techno-house artists will give you a burst of energy and make you feel like a superhero.

If you want to know who the bad bitches of the festival are, make sure to see Coi Leray and Shenseea. Leray is a rapper and singer with smooth jams and Shenseea is a dancehall singer that will inspire you to pop whatever booty you have to work with.

I.CAN’T.WAIT.

Île Soniq takes place on August 4 at MTelus and at Parc Jean Drapeau August 5 to 7. Tickets available here.
