Ru Paul’s Drag Race Review: Drag Queens Conquer Olympia
Fans were able to meet the seven drag queens: Alaska 5000, BenDeLaCreme, Darienne Lake, Ivy Winters, Jiggly Caliente, Jinkx Monsoon and Pandora Boxx, as well as host Michelle Visage during the Meet & Greet two hours before the show.
“As we were driving away to Toronto, I realized it was getting colder and colder,” said Jiggly Caliente about Montreal’s cold weather.
Viewers were treated to a live version of the Snatch Game where queens imitate celebrities. This time, the queens imitated drag queens of different editions of RuPaul’s Drag Race including Alaska 5000. Three audience members got the chance to be on stage with drag queens who revamped their look in 3:45 minutes. Each queen performed at least once by herself.
After her performance, Jinkx Monsoon took the time to talk with the audience. She spoke in French with a cute Anglophone accent. Someone called her out to speak in English to which she responded “This is the only city where I get to practice my French.” She was talking to a young man in the audience whom she found cute. She asked if he was circumcised and was surprised to find out he was. “As a Jewish woman, I won’t touch anything that’s not 40% off,” she said making the crowd roar in laughter.
Ivy Winters had two impressive performances. In the first one, she changed dresses so quickly it could only be magic all while singing. For the second one, she was on stilts in a colourful butterfly costume singing to the song “Wings”. It fit perfectly with the lyrics “She said spread your wings my little butterfly.”
Host Michelle Visage was entertaining and constantly mocked because of her “tight vagina.” A fun night pleasing all the RuPaul’s Drag Race fans that were eager to watch season 7, which aired on March 2nd.
