De Farine et D’Eau Fraiche is a Discovery of Delights
I know for a fact, that it took me over one million times longer to discover this gorgeous patisserie and cafe, than it did to fall in love with it. De Farine et D’Eau Fraîche is simply gorgeous. I still can’t believe it took me as long as it did to visit. It was all thanks to a lovely friend, and dedicated foodie, who had mentioned this cafe time and time again until finally, I committed. What a discovery!
De Farine et D’Eau Fraîche is in the heart of Montreal. The cafe feels how I imagine it would feel to step into a cute Parisian cafe after spending the morning wandering the cobble stone walkways. But instead, it’s the perfect spot to grab a coffee and amazing treat after stepping out of Metro Berri. Not quite the same, but certainly something to look forward to after that metro ride! Not to mention an amazing treat for any time of any day.
The cafe is filled with beautiful things. Flowers. Beautifully stamped unique wooden tables. A cake cabinet filled with delicious treats and various brunch and lunch menu items are available also. There are little trinkets to buy and many lovely things to admire. Visiting this cafe is certainly a treat in itself.
The day my friend and I went, we decided to meet for afternoon tea. And how perfect that was. We sat towards the front, close to the large glass window because we both love to sit and watch the street race by. Surrounded but the beauty of De Farine et D’eau Fraîche, we ordered coffee and, of course, cake. Although choosing was almost impossible as everything looked delicious, we had the helping hand of the fact that it was nearing the end of the day and many of their delicious treats had already been enjoyed. But none the less, I decided on the chocolate brownie slice. Absolutely delicious!! The coffee was lovely too.
I would love to go back time and time again to try all their treats! And I have heard the brunch is pretty good too! They offer a full range of hot and cold drinks, various breakfast options, lunches and, of course, dessert and pastries. So, I certainly think I am going to need a second trip and another afternoon tea sometime soon. Very soon!
