Don’t miss The Cult this Sunday
Legendary rockers The Cult are bringing their “Alive in the Hidden City” tour to the Metropolis Sunday night with support from Montreal’s own The Damn Truth.
The Cult has never shied away from playing new material and their latest album “Hidden City” features all the ingredients that have made great Cult records in the past: soulful vocals from Ian Astbury, great guitar work from Billy Duffy and Bob Rock producing. The band is judiciously playing the best tracks from it and they stand up nicely to their classic material. Fans can expect a setlist filled with fan favourites covering their long history.
The Damn Truth will release their new album “Devilish Folk” on Friday July 8, just in time for this show. Judging by the first single “Heart is Cold”, fans can expect a powerful blues rock album with a soulful vocal performance by singer Lee-La Baum. (Dare I say that her vocals are Joplin-esque?)
Anyone who thinks rock is dead needs to show up at the Metropolis this Sunday to be proven wrong. Very wrong. You’ve got a veteran act still kicking butt without relying on nostalgia, and a young hungry band renewing our faith in rock ’n roll. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday night. And Game of Thrones is over so you don’t even have that excuse.
The Cult and the Damn Truth are playing at Metropolis on July 10. Tickets are on sale here. The Damn Truth hits the stage at 8:00.
