Dracula – Comedy of Horrors

Halloween is coming up, and what better way to get into the spooky mood than to watch a flamboyant, sexy Dracula feast on human prey, on stage?  Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen’s show, Dracula, une comédie des horreurs, is playing in French for the first ever at the TOHU in Montreal!

Dracula, une comédie des horreurs opens with faint-hearted real estate agent Jonathan taking a treacherous path to Transylvania to meet with Count Dracula, who arrives on stage in a blur of mist, dance and music. He is everything that Jonathan is not – confident, fearless and sexy – but he is lonely, so when Jonathan praises his incredible, adventurous fiancée Lucy, the vampire abandons Transylvania to find and seduce her.

“It’s a love story about a Dracula who’s hilarious and narcissistic, as all Dracula’s have been,” explains producer Mike Mendell, “but who encounters his own vulnerability.”

The show has magic, horror, chases, stunt scenes, trapdoors, glowing red eyes and a freakish bloody ghost that floats around in Dracula’s manor. It has something for everyone, whether it’s a love triangle, mystery, horror and above anything else, comedy!

“The actors are hilarious,” admits producer Mendell, “it’s literally like having a sitcom on stage. Expect to laugh. Expect to be charmed. Expect a lot of eye candy. Expect it to be spooky. Expect the unexpected!”

Overall, the show was so much fun! Although a play, the energy, both on and off stage, was similar to a musical as the crowd was often clapping, cheering, and in-between gasping in shock and laughing. Such an amazing night out, I highly recommend!

Dracula, une comédie des horreurs is playing September 11 to November 1st at la TOHU. Find tickets HERE.
