It was an awesome launch for the Montreal Fringe with the Fringe for All. The variety of acts coming our way is mind bending (and body bending!). Puppetry, song, dance, circus, comedy, theatre, burlesque, magic. All that, in both official Canadian languages and a few others to boot. In addition to having all the local groups schowcase their acts during the Fringe For All, a wide variety of Fringe events to look forward to include the QDF film festival, the silver 25th gala, the art fair, bouge d’ici’s for the love of dance event, air guitar championships, music and more music. This 25th year, the silver year, is bound to be the best and most diverse ever.
My highlights of the Fringe For All — aside from the hosts — include Les Bunheads’ take on classical ballet, Al Lafrance’s balloon, the slo-mo fight of Captain Aurora, when Miss In Search of Mrs. Pirandello let it be known what she thought of the search with bodily fluids, watching the Einstein (or maybe it was Mark Twain) burlesque, Amy Blackmore’s air guitar, David Pryde’s banjo, the massive angel wings, an equally massive performance of the song Summertime, and Thomas Barnet carrying on like a soldier when his music failed. I missed the first half of the first act, but I’m sure there were plenty of moments in there too. Mea Culpa, first act performers.
Here are some of the acts that I managed to capture in my less-blurry photos using my trusted point-and-shoot Canon Power Shot.
