Is July really so far away?
The Montreal Jazz Fest team announced its 2017 shows, with tickets going on sale on Friday at noon. There are 150 indoor concerts in addition to the usual outdoor programming.
Fans of blues and jazz will not want to miss the triple bill of Buddy Guy, Charlie Musselwhite, and the Steve Hill and Matt Andersen duo on June 30. Colin Stetson and Tigran Hamasyan appear on July 1. On July 6, Nine Simone’s daughter Lisa Simone and MIchael Kaeshammer have a double bill.
Fans of indie music will be thrilled at the return of eletropop pionners Men without Hats on July 2. Feist is in town on July 4 with her new album Pleasure. Groeland and San Fermin appear on July 7. For those who prefer things more flamenco, Jesse Cook is in town on July 8.
If you liked the film, La La Land, watch the sound track performed by the l’Orchestra Métropolitain on July 2.
Rock your heart out with Bob Dylan and his band on June 30. Prog rockers King Crimson come July 3. Melissa Ethridge and Joss Stone appear on July 5. The next day, check out the Strumbellas and White horse on July 6. Finally, folk-crossovers The Barr Brothers will collaborate with Bassekou Kouyaté and Amy Sacko on July 7.
Always a good time, Caravan Palace brings its electro swing on June 29.
If you like downtempo trip hop, the Thievery Corporation plays July 1. There is a good dose of DJs with Wax Tailor on July 3 and Acid Arab on July 5.
