Photojournal Bal En Blanc Art Before the Storm
The annual Bal en Blanc is Canada’s longest running all-night electronic dance music event. It collects between 10,000-30,000 party goers. They come dressed all in white (85% white) and dance to hot underground djs from 10 p.m. Sunday into 10 a.m. Monday morning. Among them were Black Coffee, Emma Hewitt, Mark Knight, Afro Jack, and Mark Sixma. With the theme Hippie Chic, there were plenty of flower children and peace signs on the two official stages. Smoothies powered people through. Art was provided by some local urban artists: Jason Wasserman, Whatisadam, Xray, and Stikki Peaches. An art competition “Art en Blanc” resulted in some interesting sculptures and installations as well.
While photography is generally not allowed, we sent in Yolanda Marie Ruzilo to capture the stages and ambiance before the event began.
