Review: Dîner en Blanc
On Thursday evening Montreal was overwhelmed by an elegant white wave as the sixth edition of Dîner en Blanc was held at Place des Arts. To be honest, I don’t even really know where to begin. The evening was nothing short of incredible. This city wide event was like none other I have ever attended and it was refreshing to be a part of such an amazing event pulled together by the guests themselves.
I was in awe at the beauty of the guests. Every single person looked wonderfully elegant. I was impressed by the organisation of both the team leaders and the diners. Many of the tables had flowers and candles. Every diner ate from fine dinnerware and sipped their beverages from glasses. Bottles of beautiful wines and champagnes were free flowing as people sat under the stars and admired the night sky beauty. The food, catered by Apollo or by the guests themselves, was a fine fair.
And what I loved most about the entire event, was the guests involvement. Each one brining their own tables, chairs, table cloths, food, wine, flowers, candles and anything and everything else needed to make this white night the most elegant picnic of the year.
After the fine dining comes to an end, sparklers are lit to symbolise the end of the dinner and the beginning of the music! Dancing under the moonlight!
Dîner en Blanc was the fairytale dream I had imagined.
Dîner en Blanc was held at Place des Arts on Thursday August 14.
