MPROV: Montreal Improv Festival Coming Up!
For those of you who know what Montreal Improv Theater is I have great news, for the 9th year, MPROV, The montreal Improv Festival returns to Montreal. For those of you unfamiliar with this concept of awesomeness, spontaneity and theatrical comedy, I say: “Maaaaan you gotta see it!”
The Festival will go on for two weeks, turning Montreal Improv Theater’s stage into English improv battlefield for the first week of the festival and the battle goes on in French for the second week of the festival. This time Montreal MPROV 2014 features artists from Paris, Boston, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and, of course, Montreal.
This year’s surprise is the much anticipated return of Kristen Rasmussen, a co-founder of the Montreal Improv Theater as well as an improviser and comedian so very much loved and known to the Montreal Comedy crowd.
She is appearing in the duo K&M accompanied by Matt Folliott, an award winning improviser from Toronto.
On the English improv lineup are Summer Boyfriend (Boston), Rapid Fire Theater (Edmonton), Crush Improv (Ottawa), and Mantown and Kitty and the Bee (Toronto). From Montreal’s famous and loved you will see in action Easy Action, Infernal Compass, The Yes Tones, As The Bagel Turns and Uncalled for.
For the En Francais second week of “improv madness”, as Marc Rowland calls this upcoming phenomena, you will witness the making of the funny by Plan C (Paris), Les Enfants de Molière, Impro Chef, P’tit Rire Jaune, C’te Show La and Anglais to the De Max.
MPROV, The 9th Annual Montreal Improv Festival is happening at the Montreal Improv Theater (3697 St. Laurent) from September 30 to October 11, 2014, $6 – $12. For showtimes click HERE
