My Montreal Bucket List: Christmas Markets!
Oh isn’t it the most wonderful time of the year!? Even for those who have settled into their winter blues, the spirit of Christmas is sure to bring you out of it! And so for this week, it seemed vital to tick a Christmas Market off my Montreal Bucket list! I am sure you have all noticed by now; Montreal loves markets. Designers, local artists, gourmet treats and everything else imaginable. So this week, I ventured to Marché du Noël St Henri for a little wander and catch that Christmas cheer!
The market was cute. It was small. However I was there earlier in the day and feel not all the stall holders were set up. But none the less, the products were lovely. The cosy and warm space had lots of wonderful treats. A beautiful homemade granola stand, coffee and hot chocolate stop, jewellery, artwork, homewares and other locally crafted goodies. Certainly a lovely place to pick up a few presents! And even just for the enjoyment of the space, featuring during the time of the market, there were set to be small gigs from local bands! And of course various food stands to feed the visitors and stall holders alike!
What I love most about markets, especially local ones, is the opportunity to speak with the artisans and see the local and handmade products. It’s always to feel that connection to the product.
So after my St Henri market session, I decided it was only appropriate to continue on! Not only a christmas market, but most certainly festive during this part of the year, the Atwater Market was just down the road. With all kinds of christmassy treats, trees and decorations, as well as the best fresh produce, it’s hard not to love wandering through this space! A important part of Montreal Christmas time, the markets and handcrafted products are perfect for gifts (or yourself!) and make the time extra special.
And if you don’t make it to the St Henri Market, then there are plenty more to be discovered! See here for details.
Marché du Noël St Henri is open until December 21, from 12 – 9pm. It is located at Espace Notre Dame, 3714 Notre-Dame West.
