Repercussion Theatre’s Twelfth Night A Beautiful Evening
If music be the food of love, then last night’s show of Twelfth Night (dir Amanda Kellock) was a feast indeed. Music consultant Bob Burns and composer Gitanjali Jain created a fantastic variety of music from madrigal to rock. The performances beginning with a beguiling Count Orsino played by Mike Payette, were a delight! Letitia Brookes was hilarious as Maria. Adam Capriolo was a delight in his physicalization of a long lean and riotous Andrew Aguecheek and Mathew Cabwe’s Sir Toby Belch had the audience breathless with laughter. Gitanjali Jain sang beautifully and her turns as Feste were delightful.
All of this under a starlit sky at Jeanne Mance Park. Amanda Kellock did wonders with her set and she directed a superb version of one of my favourite plays. Her work with the actors showed in their fine performances and delicious enunciation.
Rarely have I seen such a fine group of terrific actors have such a joyous time together on stage!
Grab your kids your spouses your friends and neighbours get a picnic basket of food and head out to see some Shakespeare that will thrill and entertain you.
