Indie rock artist (Sandy) Alex G is dropping by Bar Le Ritz next week to showcase his anticipated newly released album Rocket. His seventh studio LP provides an array of sounds that fans and new listeners can both appreciate. Some of the more relaxed and laid back tracks like “Bobby” or “Proud” bring forth a heavy Elliott Smith influence that is pulled off in Alex’s own singer-songwriter style. The tracks “Brick” and “Horse” embrace loud and in your face production which rings similar to the experimental hip hop outfit Death Grips. The young Philadelphia artist has not only provided beautiful string work for his own projects, but has worked with the likes of Frank Ocean on one of last years widely acclaimed records Blonde. He has proved himself as a talented multi instrumentalist throughout the years from one album to the next, and with Rocket he shows no signs of slowing down his creative musical palette.
(Sandy) Alex G plays at Bar Le Ritz (179 Rue Jean-Talon-Ouest) on Tuesday July 4th. Doors open at 8:00pm. Show starts at 8:30pm. 21.25$ advanced. Purchase HERE.
